About SupperScout

By SupperScout Editorial Team · Updated October 5, 2026

SupperScout is a free web tool that recommends one best dinner from the ingredients you already have. It was built around a simple observation: the hardest part of weeknight cooking isn't finding recipes — it's deciding, at 5pm, with a half-full fridge and 30 minutes.

AI-assisted, validation-first

Recipes are generated with AI assistance (currently Google's Gemini), then checked by deterministic code before you see them: ingredient matching, servings and time math, diet and allergen rules, equipment limits, USDA-based food-safety temperatures, and banned health claims. Valid JSON from the model is not enough — a recipe only renders if it passes the code checks for coherence, defined food-safety requirements, and your listed constraints; passing those checks is not a guarantee that a recipe is safe. See How SupperScout works for the full pipeline.

Honest limitations

  • Recipes are not reviewed by a human and not tested in a kitchen.
  • We cannot guarantee any recipe is allergen-free — always check ingredient labels yourself.
  • We make no nutrition, medical, or health claims. This is dinner help, not dietary advice.
  • The tool knows about 300+ common ingredients. Unusual, regional, or brand-specific items may not be recognized.
  • AI output can be wrong. If a step looks off — a weird quantity, a skipped ingredient — trust your eyes over the screen.

Food safety

For recognized ingredients covered by its temperature rules, the tool adds the relevant official USDA/FSIS safe internal temperature note. It also checks generated instructions for a defined set of unsafe raw-food and undercooking patterns and rejects recipes that match those checks; the patterns cannot detect every unsafe instruction. Still: refrigerate perishables promptly, keep raw meat separate, wash produce, and when in doubt, throw it out. Our checks are a backstop, not a substitute for normal kitchen practices.

Privacy

No account, no login, no email collection. Your saved recipes live in your own browser (localStorage). Anonymous usage counters help us understand whether the tool is useful; they contain no personal data and no ingredient history tied to you.

Report a problem

Found a recipe that looks unsafe, incoherent, or wrong? We want to know. Since there's no account system, the fastest way is to note what you entered and what came out — take a screenshot — and we'll use it to improve the validation checks. Every report makes the deterministic filters stricter for everyone.

Who makes this
